The Kranji Countryside Fieldtrip was an enjoyable event for the almost 40 of us. The event was a trip to three local farms in Singapore - Hay Dairies Goat Farm, Bollywood Veggies and Qian Hu Fish Farm, in that order.
In Hay Dairies, we observed a demonstration of the milking process - done while the goats took their feed. We also learned some interesting things about the goats such as their lifespan and what happens when they reach an age where they no longer are capable of producing milk - they are sold for medical training purposes.
After the demonstration, we had a go at the goats milk (pasteurized of course) before we headed to Bollywood Veggies.
We were fist greeted by the owner and farmer, Ivy Singh who gave us an amusing "welcome speech."
We were then led around the farm by Ms Judy....
where we saw saw a Fig tree...
the "Pisang Seribu" or thousand bananas....
the Ribena fruit (yep, Ribena isn't just a brand name of a blackcurrant drink!) and many other crops - all grown without the use of any pesticides.
After the very "green" tour, we headed to Qian Hu Fish farm for some fish spa....
and "longkang" fishing!
Our trip ended here before we headed back to the "concrete jungles". It was a great quick getaway for the committee members and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did.
Have a great holiday and thank you!
