Welcome to our site! :D
So the Year 4s are scrambling around to get their thesis proposals done up, Year 3s are having it easy for now, Year 2s are out having fun.... and what about our incoming batch?
Well, they had their Orientation programme by the College yesterday and a breakout session with us!
What happened in the LKC auditorium, we do not know... we were setting up for the breakout session! The back breaking work began at 11am with the transportation of the goodie bags from the Student Lounge to LT 22.
Freshies, take note, there is a Student Lounge that we share with the Art, Design, Media students at S3.1, B3 – confused? Just ask any Soci senior and they’ll bring you over to chill out! Sleek black sofas, tiny coffee tables and a wicked lighting system that allows you to adjust the lighting intensity! Do note however, that since it IS a student lounge, it is a wee bit messy. No one is complaining though! We like it that way!
After which, we had our dry run in the LT and took it easy till 3pm.
At 3pm, our newly recruited Freshmen filed through the door and the activities began! We had:
We hope the Freshmen had an enjoyable time at the breakout session and that we have succeeded in welcoming you into our dynamic and fun loving department. We are unlike any other Division on campus and you’ll figure that out eventually after a couple of months with us. :)
Our Main Comm members are always lurking around the campus so do not fret to come up to us for a chat or if you are horribly lost during your first few months. Our professors and administrative officers are amazing as well, don’t be afraid to approach them for help!
Elections are coming up and we are looking for funky new individuals to step and take up the positions available. Do drop us a note if you would like to find out more. As a school society, Main Comm members are entitled to CCA points. (Very important if you want to stay in hall! This year’s cut-off was 15 out of a maximum 19 points!)
Watch out for our Society’s board at the HSS library too! And don’t forget to check your NTU emails – a very important circular will be coming through by Prof Francis Lim on behalf of the Society.
